Avian flu concerns wane as Big E and its popular farm-animal exhibits near

WEST SPRINGFIELD – New signs will go up with fresh warnings to wash hands after visiting animal exhibits at the Big E this year.

But concerns about the spread of avian flu, H5N1, are waning across the country and shouldn’t have a big impact on this year’s Eastern States Exposition, said Big E president and CEO Eugene Cassidy.
