As deadline looms for pandemic recovery funds, Hampden county cities ‘not leaving any funds on the table’

SPRINGFIELD — More than three years ago, Congress passed a trillion-dollar package of pandemic relief funding — the American Rescue Plan Act.

Hundreds of millions of dollars trickled down to Western Massachusetts cities and towns to help their communities recover from pandemic impacts. Among the projects funded with the help of ARPA: A soup kitchen expanded in Chicopee, a grocery store opened in Springfield, and trash bins are helping curb litter in Holyoke.
