Arts Beat: Plenty to see, plenty to give for theater lovers this season

Goodspeed Musicals is known globally as the theater that nurtures and launches more new musicals than any other nonprofit around. Hits like “Man of La Mancha,” “Shenandoah,” “Annie” and Irving Berlin’s “Holiday Inn” got their start at Goodspeed. Their Festival of New Musicals, Jan. 12-14, is an annual event, where new musicals are presented in workshop format, surrounded by lectures about musical theater. The 2024 season at the Terris Theatre will be announced during the weekend. This year’s productions are “Photosynthesis,” “Letters to the President” and “The Snow Goose.” Goodspeed’s 2024 main stage season includes “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” and “South Pacific.” For details: www.goodspeed.org.
