Arts Beat: Open rehearsals begin for jazz vocal ensemble in Northampton

WAM Theatre’s fall production of Jessica Dickey’s “Galileo’s Daughter,” directed by Reena Dutt, will be a co-production with Central Square Theatre in Cambridge. After its performance run at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Oct. 18 to Nov. 3, the production heads down the Pike towards Boston. Dutt directed “Guards at the Taj” at Chester Theatre. The UMass Amherst Theatre has announced its 2024-25 season, which opens with Kimberly Bellflower’s “John Proctor is the Villain,” directed by Kyle Boatwright, opening in October. Thornton Wilder’s classic “Our Town” follows. “Unfinished Women Cry in No Man’s Land While a Bird Dies in a Gilded Cage” by Aishah Rahman opens the 2025 season, followed by the zany musicalXanadu.” For details: www.fineartscenter.com.
