SOUTHWICK — A representative of the Appalachian Mountain Club appeared before the Conservation Commission Monday to begin the process of renovating the trailhead of the New England Scenic Trail where its crosses into Southwick.
“We want to renovate it so folks can wheel, walk and take a stroller across the bridge, hang around and come back,” said Miriam Maistelman, the AMC’s national scenic trail coordinator during the meeting.
She explained that using a Mass Trails grant of $68,000, the AMC wants to reconstruct and enhance a quarter-mile section of the trail that begins at 4 Rising Corner Rd.
