‘American Idol’: Carrie Underwood says she was nervous for contestant singing ‘Good Girl’

An “American Idol” contestant had a dream she was singing a duet with Carrie Underwood during her audition before being sent to Hollywood.

During season 23, Landry Champlin‘s dream came true.

Champlin sang “Good Girl” by Carrie Underwood as her audition. And Underwood quickly jumped in.

But the new judge later admitted she was nervous when Champlin said she was singing one of her songs.

“I feel like you defiantly made it your own,” Underwood said.

Lionel Richie agreed he was also nervous.

“I loved the delivery. I loved your voice. And I love how you just present,” Richie said.

“Great start,” judge Luke Bryan added.

All three judges were then ready for a vote, which was a resounding yes.

“American Idol” airs at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
