BOSTON — Alysa Liu and Kaori Sakamoto shared a long hug after Liu’s score was announced at the World Figure Skating Championships at TD Garden on Friday as Liu approached the Leaders Chair where Sakamoto had sat for the last three skaters.
Liu put together a 222.97 – suitable for a gold medal, world-championship-securing program.
