Alex Cora gives target date for Masataka Yoshida to start rehab assignment

BOSTON — Red Sox designated hitter Masataka Yoshida is approaching the final step he’ll need to take before rejoining the club’s lineup.

Manager Alex Cora said Yoshida, who has been sidelined since April 28 with a left thumb strain, could start a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester as soon as Friday. Yoshida took batting practice on the field at Fenway Park again before Tuesday’s game against Atlanta.
