SPRINGFIELD — Felix Lopez has always been able to pay his bills, but this fall he needs help. The college-level student counselor from Springfield is now injured, out of work and relying on a fuel assistance program to help heat his home this winter.
“I‘m going through a tough time and this assistance is extremely crucial for my well-being and for my kids’ well-being, said Lopez, 38. ”If it weren’t for programs like these that are able to catch us when we’re falling, because of circumstances life tends to dish out, I’d really be in trouble.”
