WEST SPRINGFIELD – No. 2 Agawam came into the Western Massachusetts Class B Championship against No. 4 Taconic as underdogs. Sure, Agawam was ranked as the No. 2 seed, but the Thunder had made a habit of making it to the Class B sectional – achieving the feat three consecutive years, including a victory in previous year’s contest.
Agawam got on the board first when Vinny Motagna picked up a rebound off a shot by Landon Ashford and tapped it into the back of the net. However, that did not deter Taconic, as the Thunder scored just 23 seconds later off the stick of Eric Harrington who tapped in a feed from the far post.
