‘A rat fleeing a sinking ship’: Students, staff, alumni react to Hampshire woes

A few months ago Hampshire College president said the institution was rebounding after being faced with closure in 2019 due to financial difficulties.

Now the institution is cutting 9% of its non-faculty employees, temporarily suspending staff retirement contributions, consolidating departments and having senior leadership take a year-long pay cut to make up for low enrollment numbers and FAFSA delays.
