Will Watson III posted a message on his Instagram account Sunday night signaling his return to the Virginia Tech football team following his indefinite suspension from the program.
“I’m back.”
A source also confirmed to MassLive that Watson is back to participating in team activities with the Hokies.
The former Springfield Central quarterback was initially suspended from the team on Sept. 20. At the time, Hokies coach Brent Pry did not specify the exact reasoning for the freshman’s suspension. Watson’s father, Bill Watson, said in a Facebook post that the suspension was due to missing curfew.
Will Watson was a four-year starter at Springfield Central High School before graduating and accepting an athletic scholarship at Virginia Tech in 2022. Following his senior season with the Golden Eagles, Watson was named the Massachusetts Gatorade High School Football Player of the Year.
