ABINGTON — I can’t express the level of jealousy I sensed from the next table when my waffle arrived.
Just like me, the table to my right was in awe of the funfetti freight train that was the Birthday Cake Waffle at Yaz’s Table.
You’ll hear people say that something is topped with a “mountain of whipped cream.” Typically, that’s like calling something a mountain in Rhode Island. It doesn’t earn the label.
This waffle came topped with Fruity Pebbles, crème anglaise and a full Mount Washington’s worth of whipped cream. I devoured the whole delicious thing.
Like a lot of fun brunch spots, Yaz’s Table delivers feasts for the eyes. Where the Abington eatery stands out is the way it elevates every corner of the menu with flavors to back it up — and a little more sincere pizazz than you’ll usually find.

Yaz’s Table Breakfast & Brunch in Abington
Before anyone asks, no, this place isn’t connected to Boston Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski. It’s an amazing brunch spot with Egyptian roots that was opened by owner Yasmine Zakhary in 2018.
The atmosphere is simultaneously comfy and beautiful. The restaurant’s Egyptian ties are celebrated with both eye-catching decorations and inspired dishes offering a tasty glimpse at a style of cuisine that’s not often represented in Massachusetts.
Sure, they’ve got the usual American-style breakfast options (eggs, toast, omelets) and sandwiches. But as you dive deeper into the menu, you’ll find awesome fusion creations with a Mediterranean twist.
What’s good on the menu?
The Birthday Cake Waffle, inspired by a beloved childhood memory for Zakhary, was a delight. I was afraid that it was going to be a lopsided mess. Instead, I gobble it up as the topping blended pleasantly with the well-cooked waffle.
In the savory department, I got the Egyptian beef breakfast tacos, which had brilliant flavors singing from the meat. Meanwhile, I was really impressed by the sweet potato home fries.
They were delightfully crispy and hearty by themselves. But I thoroughly enjoyed slathering them in the provided bottle of Yaz’s “secret Egyptian hot sauce.”
I went a little wacky with my coffee order and got the Egyptian rose petal latte. I’m glad I did. The bubblegum-pink concoction struck a brilliant balance between the rose essence and the mellow sweetness of honeycomb added to the equation.
Yaz’s Table is famous for its doughnut holes, which rotate through different flavors every month. During my visit, they had “Midnight Cherry Cookies & Cream Donut Holes.”
These doughnut holes are a revelation. I was expecting something akin to a Dunkin’ Munchkin. Instead, I got five fried cannonballs of goodness, each the size of a tennis ball.
Each doughnut hole was a craggly, moist creation that was rich with cherry flavor and decadent Oreo cookie mixings.
Yaz’s Table has range
Yaz’s Table covers a ton of ground with its menu, which is well-covered on every part of the brunch spectrum.
For breakfast, there’s a benedict with cured Egyptian beef “prosciutto,” pancake tacos and chicken parm shakshuka. There’s also the “Sultan,” pancakes stuffed with bacon and cheddar and topped with short rib, poached egg, hollandaise and more bacon.
If you’re looking for something more hearty in the lunch range, they have burgers, paninis and tapas-style small plates.
Yaz’s Table pulls double duty
There are multiple parts to the Yaz’s experience.
You’ve got the main restaurant, Yaz’s Table Breakfast & Brunch.
Then next door, there’s Yaz’s Table Boutique Cafe & Bakery, which opened in 2023. The Cafe & Bakery has counter service and focuses more on sandwiches and baked goods.
You can find more info about the Boutique Cafe & Bakery here.
