Every week throughout the 2025-2026 basketball season, MassLive will release updated boys basketball power rankings for the Bay State Conference.
Here are the rankings going into the first week of the season.
Although Newton North graduated its top two players in Teagan Swint and Nick Spinelli, the Tigers have enough of their core returning to earn a spot at the top of the preseason Bay State Conference rankings.
Jake Lyons and Julian Zakak return in addition to captains Matthaois Stamm and Luke Washek. Sophomore Bryson Mercedes could also be a difference-maker for the program this winter.
Brookline had a strong 16-7 season last winter powered by seniors like Alan Shi, Aaron Viola and Barry Golden. Although the trio are gone, the Warriors return star guard Caleb Haynes in addition to Ram Smith Jr., 6-foot-4 senior Mason Stern and others.
Needham returns Bay State Conference player to watch Foster Wilkinski this winter and is set to take a step forward after qualifying for the state postseason last winter.
The first games of the season are set to tip-off on Thursday. MassLive will be at Friday’s game between No. 6 Braintree and No. 7 Walpole. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. in Braintree.
