LONGMEADOW — Looking to make history and reach the state quarterfinals for the first time ever under the new MIAA statewide tournament format, the Longmeadow girls soccer team kicked the door down on Saturday.

The second-seeded Lancers tallied a pair of first-half goals and rode a lockdown defensive effort to capture a 2-0 victory over No. 18 North Quincy in the MIAA Division II Round of 16.
