Newest Jets RB Dalvin Cook thinks team can be ‘something special’ during 2023 season

The New York Jets enter the 2023 season with a strong offense after adding Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and Dalvin Cook at running back to compliment Breece Hall.

And the newest Jets RB thinks they have a strong chance to reach the expectations they have going into the season.

“When you dig deep and look into the roster, I think all the pieces are put together. I think I can come help these guys,” Cook told reporters Thursday. “You look at the running back room with (Michael Carter), Breece (Hall), (Israel Abanikanda), all those guys, and me just adding to it, I think we can be something special.”

Cook signed a one-year deal with Gang Green earlier this week after a successful visit which had him at the team facility for most of the day. The 28-year-old revealed it didn’t take him long to realize he wanted to be part of the organization.

“When I came on my visit, I think I’ve pretty much seen everything I needed to see,” Cook told reporters. “It was good vibes with the coaches, the players, everybody around the building. … I got the chance to go join (Rodgers), go help him win again. That was a big thing (for me) to come over here.”

Cook is coming off his fourth straight season with at least 1,000 rushing yards and now will look to bring that kind of production to New York.

The Jets had a strong defense last year and bolstered their offense in the offseason. Coming off a 7-10 record in 2022, New York looks to rebound and keep pace with a tough AFC Divsion.
