SPRINGFIELD — Plan B Burger Bar will close permanently Sunday after settling an eviction case with its landlords at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Plan B locations at West Hartford and Hartford will also close, said Allie J. Gamble, founder and CEO in a news release Tuesday that called the closures a “strategic realignment of its footprint.”

Plan B will continue to operate locations in Simsbury, Glastonbury and Milford, all in Connecticut. That’s down from a total of 11 restaurants in four states at its peak, according to Gamble’s release.

The Springfield location had 41 employees, according to staffers there.

All employed team members will receive severance pay, Gamble said. He said management is working to place team members at other restaurants.

The Springfield location opened in 2012.

In June, Plan B Springfield LLC and parent company Locals 8 agreed to pay landlord Springfield Riverfront Development Corp. $645,562 in unpaid rent and also to give up possession of the restaurant space. The settlement was recorded in documents at Hampden Superior Court.

Springfield Riverfront Development Corp. sued back in December 2023, according to court papers. At the time, the landlord said it was owed $94,000.

Also, Plan B Springfield owes the state more than $658,000 in unpaid meals and sales tax and payroll withholding for the paid family medical leave program, according to liens filed at the Hampden County Registry of Deeds.

There are active discussions now with new potential tenants, said B. John Dill, CEO of Colebrook Realty Services, which manages the Hall of Fame complex on behalf of Springfield Riverfront Development Corp.

Colebrook is also in discussions with potential new occupants of the vacant space on the other side of the Hall of Fame once occupied by The Place 2 B.

The Place 2 B closed in December.

The building still houses Max’s Tavern and Max’s Swing Bar golf simulator, Cold Stone Creamery, Audacy radio stations, Comparion Insurance Agency, which is a Liberty Mutual company, along with the Hall of Fame and its gift shop.
