As a Worcester dentist pulled in more than a million dollars of fraudulent medical reimbursement, continuing to provide “dangerous” care to the state’s most vulnerable patients, his office manager scraped by on $16 per hour.
In “financial desperation,” Robin Cronin submitted paperwork in which DiStefano used other dentists’ credentials to bill Medicaid for services, despite having been banned from providing MassHealth services or billing them for reimbursement, according to testimony in federal court Tuesday.
Cronin’s salary proved significant at her sentencing hearing Tuesday. She had previously pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and health care fraud for her part in late dentist Anthony DiStefano’s scheme.
