Central Mass. school superintendent found not guilty of OUI charge, report says

Former superintendent for Uxbridge Public Schools Michael Baldassarre was found not guilty of driving under the influence, according to the Telegram & Gazette.

Baldassarre, of Concord, opted for a trial in front of a judge on Monday, July 21, who found him not guilty of the charge of operating under the influence (liquor), the T&G reported Friday.

“I’m relieved,” Baldassarre wrote Tuesday in a post on his LinkedIn account. “This has been a devastating chapter in my life. I’m grateful to the court for its careful review of the facts.”

After finding him not guilty, District Court Judge Jon L. Revelli placed Baldassarre on administrative probation for six months after the former superintendent tendered a plea of “admission to sufficient facts” on a charge of negligent driving, the T&G reported. He was ordered to pay $300 in court fees.

Revelli also found Baldassarre not responsible for speeding and not responsible for a marked lanes violation.

Massachusetts State Police arrested Baldassarre at around 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 18 on Interstate 495 in Bolton, the Telegram & Gazette wrote in January. A trooper and a field training officer on patrol accused Baldassarre of speeding and swerving before crashing into another car. Police said he refused a Breathalyzer test.

During his arraignment, Baldassarre pleaded not guilty.

In March, Baldassarre reached a separation agreement with the Uxbridge School Committee and Karen Dwyer was named interim superintendent.
