England is looking to join Germany and Norway as the only multi-time EURO winners. In 2022, England took down eight-time winner Germany, 2-1, to capture its first EURO crown. With a win Sunday, England would join Germany as the only nations to win consecutive EUROs. All of Germany’s tournament titles came in consecutive clusters, first in 1989 and 1991. Then the squad ripped off six straight EURO titles by winning in 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013.

In the semifinal against Italy, England was on the brink of elimination, but then Michelle Agyemang delivered a miracle in the 90′+6′ to tie the match at 1-1 and force extra time. Then, late in the second half of extra time, Chloe Kelly was given a penalty, but it was saved by Laura Giuliani, how, Kelly stayed on top of it and booted in the winner off the rebound in the 119′.

Spain has been the best team all tournament and is the only undefeated team left. Keeper Catalina Coll hasn’t allowed a goal in the Knockout Stage, setting the tone in a 2-0 victory over host nation Switzerland in the quarterfinal and a 1-0 win over Germany in the semifinal.

In the semifinal though, Spain’s offense was finally slowed down as it was held scoreless for the first 90 minutes. And then in extra time, it wasn’t until the 113′ when Aitana Bonmatí snuck one past the goalkeeper from the right side and found the back of the net for the winner.
