State Rep. Kelly Pease sent out an announcement July 3 after voting in support of the $61.01 billion fiscal year 2026 state budget, House Bill 4240, which he said strengthens local education, health care and workforce development across Massachusetts.
The FY26 budget is not yet final, though. Pease said Gov. Maura Healey had until July 10 to enact line — item vetos. On July 7, Healey signed a $60.9 billion budget, $130 million less than the conference budget. Now, legislators will be called in later this week to look at the governor’s proposed cuts, and whether to let them stand or override them.
