It’s only preseason, but Devin McCourty brought the energy on “The McCourty TwinCast” on Thursday night.
Tyquan Thornton, who’s struggled throughout Patriots training camp, made a highlight-reel leaping 27-yard grab downfield on a pass from Bailey Zappe in the Patriots’ preseason opener against the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium.

Thornton has had a slow start to camp, but has been unfazed by his lack of production leading up to Thursday’s game. The second-year wide receiver is expected to make a leap this season. And with New England not adding someone like DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, Thornton had a chance in training camp to set himself apart.
But that didn’t quite happen, but his catch Thursday had McCourty channel his inner Allen Iverson when the 23-year-old hauled in the pass.
“Practice! We’re talkin’ about practice!,” McCourty said on the “TwinCast.”
There’s a reason Patriots coaches weren’t concerned about Thornton’s slower start to training camp. And his unknown injury that limited him this week doesn’t seem to be bothering the second-year wideout.
