How ex-Boston Red Sox players are doing with their new teams

Ex-Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta struck out 10 and allowed just three hits and one walk in 7 scoreless innings to lead the Padres 8-0 over Colorado on Friday.

Pivetta signed a four-year, $55 million contract with the Padres on Feb. 12.

Below is a look at how former Red Sox from the 2024 team are doing with their new clubs:

Nick Pivetta, Padres: The 32-year-old righty has allowed just three runs in 17 innings (1.59 ERA) over three starts. He has given up 10 hits and four walks while striking out 18. He has a 2-1 record, 0.82 WHIP and .164 batting average against.

Tyler O’Neill, Orioles: The 29-year-old is 12-for-38 (.316 batting average) with a .386 on-base percentage, .526 slugging percentage, .912 OPS, one homer, one triple, three doubles, six runs, seven RBIs, four walks and eight strikeouts in 11 games. O’Neill signed with Baltimore on Dec. 7. It’s a three-year, $49.5 million contract that includes an opt out after 2025.

Kenley Jansen, Angels: The 37-year-old has converted all three of his save opportunities. He has pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six. Jansen signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Angels on Feb. 11.

Cam Booser, White Sox: The 32-year-old lefty reliever has pitched in six games for Chicago. He has allowed two runs, four hits (two homers) and two walks while striking out eight in six innings. Boston traded Booser to Chicago on Dec. 21 for 18-year-old minor leaguer Yhoiker Fajardo.

Chris Martin, Rangers: The 38-year-old righty allowed six unearned runs (two earned runs) in 8 innings (2.25 ERA). He has given up seven hits and two walks while striking out 12 in eight outings. Both walks were intentional walks. He walked only 11 batters (four intentional) in 100 appearances for Boston in 2023-24. Martin signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with Texas in January.

Emnanuel Valdez, Pirates: The 26-year-old is 3-for-17 (.176) with a .222 on-base percentage, .353 slugging percentage, .575 OPS, one triple, one double, one run, two RBIs, one walk and five strikeouts in seven games for Pittsburgh. Boston designated Valdez for assignment Dec. 11, then traded him to the Pirates on Dec. 15 for 23-year-old minor league pitcher Joe Vogatsky.

Lucas Sims, Nationals: The 30-year-old righty has allowed five runs, seven hits and five walks while striking out five in nine outings (6 ⅓ innings). He has an 7.11 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and .280 batting average against. Sims signed as a minor league free agent with Washington on Feb. 19.

Luis García, Dodgers: The 38-year-old righty has given up four runs (three earned runs), seven hits and six walks while striking out seven. He has a 3.24 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and .233 batting average against. García signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on Feb. 14.

Danny Jansen, Rays: The 29-year-old catcher is 4-for-30 (.133) with a .257 on-base percentage, .267 slugging percentage, .524 OPS, one homer, one double, three runs, five walks and six strikeouts in nine games. Jansen signed a one-year, $8.5 million contract with the Rays on Dec. 6.

Mickey Gasper, Twins: The 29-year-old catcher/infielder/outfielder is 2-for-17 (.118 batting average) with a .286 on-base percentage, .118 slugging percentage, .404 OPS, one run, four walks and six strikeouts in eight games. Boston traded Gasper for minor league pitcher Jovani Morán on Dec. 24.

Pablo Reyes, Yankees: The 31-year-old infielder/outfielder is 0-for-6 with a run and walk in five games for New York. He signed a minor league contract with New York on Nov. 12 and made the Opening Day roster.

Chase Shugart, Pirates: The 28-year-old righty reliever has appeared in three games for Pittsburgh. He has thrown 3 ⅔ scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out two. The Red Sox designated Shugart for assignment Jan. 15, then traded him to Pittsburgh for minor league pitcher Matt McShane on Jan. 17.

Brad Keller, Cubs: The 29-year-old righty reliever has appeared in four games for Chicago. He has allowed two runs, five hits and one walk while striking out six in 5 innings. He has a 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and .250 batting average against. Keller signed a minor league contract with the Cubs in January.

Tyler Heineman, Blue Jays: The 33-year-old catcher is 9-for-18 (.500) with a homer, double, four runs, two RBIs, one stolen bases, one walk and two strikeouts in five games. Toronto claimed Heineman off waivers from the Red Sox last Sept. 17.

Bobby Dalbec, Charlotte: The 29-year-old is 4-for-23 (.174) with a .208 on-base percentage, .391 slugging percentage, .599 OPS, one homer, one triple, four runs, six RBIs, one walk and 11 strikeouts in six games for Charlotte, the White Sox’ Triple-A affiliate.
