Boston man ID’d as person who died in Malden crash, DA says

A Boston man who died Thursday after he was hit by a vehicle in Malden has been identified, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.

Rojas Ramirez, 23, of Boston, was identified as the motorist who was hit by a vehicle, a press release from the DA said.

At around 2:37 p.m. on Thursday, the Malden Police Department responded to a crash involving a Jeep and a moped with two riders who were at the intersection of a bike path and Broadway at Eastern Avenue in Malden, said the release.

Ramirez was sent to a medical facility in Everett where he was pronounced dead, said the DA’s office.

The Jeep driver remained on the scene.

The crash caused Broadway to be closed between Eastern Avenue and Waite Street, Malden Police said in a Facebook post. The area was eventually reopened to traffic.

As of Friday, the incident is an open and active investigation and no charges have been filed, said the press release.

The crash is being investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Malden Police Department and the Northeast Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
