‘Turn around’: Mass. officials urge caution due to possibly flooding Tuesday

Flooding near some rivers in Massachusetts and Connecticut could be dangerous for drivers Tuesday.

“Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads,“ the National Weather Service warned. ”Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

The rivers most likely to have flooding are the Connecticut River in Northampton and in Thompsonville, Connecticut.

Some areas of Massachusetts, such as Pittsfield, had a slight chance of seeing see snow showers before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Overall, the weather is expected to be dry Tuesday across Massachusetts. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

However, widespread rain could hit Massachusetts starting Thursday. There could also be snow across the high terrain of Western Massachusetts, officials said.
