
A pedestrian was killed Tuesday in a crash involving a car in Newton.
A Massachusetts State Police Trooper saw the crash on Route 9 in Chestnut Hill on his way to work. He stopped to attempt to save the pedestrian and investigate what happened.
The pedestrian died due to their injuries.
The Newton Fire Department responded to the scene as well as a State Police patrol supervisor, the Crime Scene Services Section, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Troop H Detectives and detectives assigned to the Middlesex State Police Detective Unit.
The vehicle involved in the crash remained on scene.
For the safety of motorists and investigators, officials closed the left travel lanes in both directions.
