A ‘Sleeper team’ has joined the Patriots in hunt for Cooper Kupp (report)

The Cooper Kupp sweepstakes are getting a little more crowded.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys are now in the pursuit to sign the former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver. Schefter called Dallas “a sleeper team” that is making a push to sign Kupp.

MassLive’s Karen Guregian reported Thursday that the New England Patriots are indeed among Kupp’s suitors — but not at the current price he’s asking for.

Kupp isn’t expected to draw out the free agency process much longer, with Schefter reporting that a decision could come as soon as Friday.

The 31-year-old Kupp was a late addition to what was already considered to be a weak market at wide receiver this offseason.

Kupp has proven to be a dominant force at his peak. In 2021, he posted an astonishing 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, which all led the NFL.

However, injuries have slowed Kupp down in recent seasons. In 2024, he caught 67 passes for 710 yards and 6 touchdowns.

With that said, Kupp is still the top receiver left on the market and presents an enticing target for a Patriots team that’s in dire need of help at the position.
