Mac Jones ‘disrespectful?’ Falcons DE not a fan of Patriots QB’s trash talk

Mac Jones isn’t making friends with one Falcons defensive end.

Calais Campbell has heard his fair-share of trash talk over his 15 seasons in the NFL. And while he pointed out not all trash talk is bad and it’s part of the game, the Patriots quarterback on other hand is “disrespectful.”

“Philip Rivers was a good trash talker, but he was never disrespectful, Mac Jones actually, he was kind of disrespectful,” Campbell told reporters, per The Athletic’s Josh Kendall. “I’m like, ‘Hold on, man.’ Just trash talk to the highest level. It was like, ‘You don’t trash-talk me.’”

Campbell revealed that Jones was the only QB he could remember being disrespectful, per Kendall.

While it’s unclear what exactly Jones said that was deemed disrespectful by Campbell, it’s just another bullet point on the third-year quarterback’s résumé after being deemed a “dirty player” after grabbing the ankle of Brian Burns in 2021.

Campbell has defended a slew of quarterbacks as he prepares to enter his 16th NFL season, including Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. So Jones — in his third year in the NFL — being the only QB the defensive end recalls as being disrespectful comes off as a bit of a surprise.

He also admitted that he won’t go as hard against a quarterback who’s “nice” in their trash talking — a theory that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes revealed in the Netflix documentary “Quarterback.”

“It’s very true,” Campbell told reporters, per Kendall.

The Patriots and the Falcons don’t meet this year in the regular season, so Campbell won’t be on the receiving end of Jones’ trash talk.
