Dog dies after being attacked by other dog near cranberry bog in Mass.

A dog was fatally wounded when it was attacked by another dog near the Carlisle cranberry bog on Saturday, police said.

Police learned of the attack on the Towle Field trails around 2:20 p.m. Saturday. A six-year-old Maltese was off leash when another unidentified dog, described as a large white dog with a brown patch around its eye, approached the Maltese and severely bit it, Carlisle Police said in a statement.

The Maltese was rushed to a local vet for treatment but was euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.

A woman who was with the white dog at the time of the attack gave he name as “Michaela” and provided a phone number that appears to be out of service, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 978-369-1155.
