WESTFIELD – The Planning Board granted Linda Degon, a longtime dog breeder, a special permit for a residential kennel at 63 Sackett Rd., zoned Rural Residential, at its meeting on Feb. 4.
Speaking on behalf of Degon was her son-in-law Stephen Kostusiak, who said she had no intention of bringing more animals onto the property, nor to make improvements to the property. He said she has had many dogs for years and occasionally breeds them as a hobby. The application was made to be in compliance with the dog officer, to stop fines for having too many animals and to let her keep her animals contained as pets.
