Warm up with hot cocoa bombs, fondue at Mass. waterfront restaurant

An explosion of chocolatey goodness awaits you at a waterfront restaurant in Boston.

Woods Hill Pier 4 invites diners to escape windy Seaport with the restaurant’s warm and flavorful hot cocoa bombs this winter.

The $14 bombs come in three flavors: dark chocolate, cookies ‘n cream and salted caramel. Each bomb is packed with marshmallows in a chocolate shell that breaks apart as steamed milk is poured over them table-side.

Choose your flavor and choice of either whole milk or oat milk. Each bomb is topped with another larger marshmallow as well. The bombs are gluten-free and nut-free.

The bomb becomes boozy by adding a dash of a favorite spirit. Recommended options include Privateer Private Reserve Rum, Four Roses Bourbon or Bully Boy Vodka.

Woods Hill Pier also has a fondue service available as an appetizer.

The $85 fondue is meant to serve 4 to 6 people and comes with several accompaniments, including cubed baguette, Brussels sprouts, fingerling potatoes, broccoli and Shitake mushrooms.

The cheese blend is made with Gruyere, Crucolo, and white wine that is not entirely cooked off, so there is a bit of alcohol left when it’s brought to the table.

The hot cocoa bombs and fondue are available daily for dinner service. Dinner hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.Saturday and 4:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday. The fondue is also available during weekend brunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Woods Hill Pier 4 is located at 300 Pier 4 Blvd, Boston.
