SPRINGFIELD — After being reelected to serve as City Council president on his birthday, Michael Fenton called for members to treat each other and the people they represent with respect.
In its organizational meeting on Monday, the council set a record by electing Fenton for the fifth time as president. Fenton served in the role last year and for three years previously between 2014 and 2016. He has represented Ward 2 since 2010.
