“Does It Break the Skin” is a film about a former romantic and creative partner who is held for ransom over unpaid debts. A young filmmaker is faced with a moral dilemma that “demands” a violent answer, Backstage reported.
This project is hiring a male actor between 20 and 30 to play Mickey. Mickey is a small-time criminal and artist who takes his newest project way too far.
This project shoots within the first two weeks of January and two more days in late January or early February, Backstage reported. The shooting location is Boston. The pay rate is to be determined. This job expires on Jan. 7.
“Third” is about a young man who is planning to ask an older man who he’s been dating to be his boyfriend. But when he arrives at the man’s house, another man is already there, Backstage reported.
This project is looking for three actors who are either male or non-binary, according to Backstage. They are seeking to fill the roles of Caleb — the lead — and the two supporting characters, Tom and Eric.
This project shoots from March 7 to 10 in Greater Boston, Backstage reported. The pay for this role depends on the role assigned. Actors playing Tom and Eric will be paid $100 a day for about three days of work. Meanwhile, the actor playing Caleb will be paid $100 a day for about four days of work. This job expires on Jan. 14.
“Love Undone” is a show that explores the complexities and nuances of the Bell and Hill families as they navigate their respective lives, Backstage said.
This project is looking for four roles, according to Backstage:
- Lamont Hill, the Hill family patriarch. He should be played by a Black man between 40 and 60.
- Josephine Jones, the Jones family matriarch, is less mature than her kids. She should be played as a Black woman between 45 and 65.
- Sashmir Horner is described as “eager, messy and has an agenda.” They should be played by a non-binary person between 25 and 35.
- Thomas Martis is Ruth’s loving husband, who is calm and settled. He should be played by a Black man between 35 and 55.
The pay rate for this role will be negotiated. This job expires on Jan. 12, according to Backstage. This project will be shot in the late summer of 2025 in Greater Boston.
“The Maid and the Dragon Slayer” is a “Game of Thrones”-style romance epic from Reelshort, according to Backstage.
This role is looking for four actors.
The character of Celeste Lancaster should be played by a white woman between 18 and 26. This character is a villain who is “rude, arrogant and calculating,” according to Backstage. The pay for this role is $250 per day for seven days.
The character of King Lancaster should be played by a white man between 40 and 55. This character is the “tough but fair King of Ravaria,” according to Backstage. The pay for this role is $250 per day for seven days.
The character of Milo Swann should be played by a white child aged 9 to 12. This character is “Freya and Tristan’s sweet and precocious son,” according to Backstage. The pay for this role is $250 per day for six days.
The character of Livia Swann should be played by a white woman between 18 and 24. This character is “Freya’s kind, supportive, honest little sister,” according to Backstage. The pay for this role is $250 per day for six days.
This project films from Jan. 18 to Feb. 7 in Los Angeles and Boston. This job expires on Jan. 17.
“The Deponent” is a micro-budget noir, according to Backstage.
This project is looking to hire for several roles and the pay varies depending on each role, according to Backstage. This project shoots in May in Boston and the job expires on Jan. 31.
“Ana” is a film about David, a patient with Alzheimer’s, who reconnects with his past through music and the voice of his dead wife, Ana, according to Backstage.
This project is looking for a woman with violin skills to play Ana, Backstage said. The actress should be between 30 and 56.
This project is also looking for an actress to play a nurse, Backstage said. The actress should be between 18 and 30.
This project would pay between $150 to $600 for about three days of work, Backstage reported.
This film is shooting between March 15 and 23 around Greater Boston, Backstage reported. This job expires on Jan. 31.
“Join the Club” is about a high school student who is forced to join the school drama club to process her feelings, according to Backstage.com.
This project is looking to hire for three roles. This project is seeking talent from Easthampton and Springfield, according to Backstage.
Michelle is the lead character, according to Backstage. She is a lovable nerd who is tenacious and has big feelings that are shown in small ways. She is captain of the high school debate team and is forced to join the drama club. She should be played by a woman between 18 and 25.
Cora is a transgender female character who is British and painfully shy and is best friends with Willy, according to Backstage. She should be played by a transgender woman between 18 and 25.
Dave is Daisy’s partner, according to Backstage. This is a non-speaking role, but actors must be comfortable with kissing. They should be played by someone between 18 and 25.
Actors will be paid $100 to $150 for about four work days. This job expires on Feb. 1. This film is shooting in February in Easthampton.
“Ann Arbor” is an action-packed military thriller, Backstage reported.
This project is hiring for four roles.
The character of Paul Collins needs to be played by a male actor between 24 and 40. Paul Collins is a smart ranger with a moral backbone. But he questions authority when his orders misalign with his ethics, Backstage reported.
The character of Jackson needs to be played by a male actor between 21 and 30. Jackson is Paul’s friend who is wrestling with guilt and loyalty. His emotional volatility shows the moral ambiguity of their work, Backstage reported.
Staff Sgt. Mitchell needs to be played by someone over 30, Backstage reported. This character is a commanding leader under lots of pressure. They are also overwhelmed by their duties.
ShadowHawk Operatives needs to be played by someone at least 18, Backstage reported. This character is tasked with recovering sensitive materials and ruthlessly follows orders.
The actor playing Staff Sgt. Mitchell will be paid $25 for about three hours of work, Backstage reported.
The actor playing ShadowHawk Operatives will be paid $50 for about one day of work, Backstage reported.
Everyone else will be paid $50 a day for about three days of work, Backstage reported.
This job expires on Feb. 21, Backstage said. This project shoots in Boston and Walpole.
“Skullcaps” is about a banned TV episode airing for a fictional community access television station, according to Backstage.
This project is looking for a male actor between 21 and 33 to play Christoph, Backstage said. This character is the host of Skullcaps who comes across a snuff tape created by the station’s owner.
The pay for this role is $300 to $500 for about 15 hours of work, Backstage said. This job expires on April 12, and shoots in Boston.
“Mumble Bumble” is a romantic comedy about online dating in your middle ages, Backstage reported.
This role is looking for a man between 50 and 65 to play Matt and Matt’s Inner Voice, according to Backstage.
Matt is in his late 50s. He is quick-witted, open-minded, friendly and optimistic. The same actor will portray Matt’s Inner Voice. His inner voice is his thoughts spoken out loud.
This project will pay actors $600 for about three days of work, Backstage said. Meals and accommodations for two nights will be paid for. This project will shoot on Cape Cod. Dates are to be determined as of Dec. 31. This job expires on Nov. 22.
