Westfield River Wildwater Race works to plug funding gap

WESTFIELD — Organizers preparing for the 70th annual Westfield River Wildwater Race are launching a fundraising drive to cover the more than $30,000 in cash they need to run the event.

Race Chairman Harry Rock said that while participant fees cover about half the cost of the race, cash donations and in-kind services are needed to continue the longest-running canoe race in the country.
