Aaron Rodgers made NFL history when he came the league’s most-sacked quarterback in the third quarter of the New York Jets’ ugly 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
The record was previously held by Tom Brady, who was sacked 565 times in his 23-year career.
After the game, Rodgers was asked about being the new leader.
“I got Tom in that,” he said laughing.
Brady and Rodgers were constantly compared to one another when they were both playing. While Rodgers has Brady beat with four MVP awards to Brady’s three, it’s the latter who has seven Super Bowl titles while Rodgers has just one in his career. Brady also has a slew of other NFL records.
Not much has gone right for Rodgers or the Jets this season. New York is 4-12 after Sunday’s loss and has long been eliminated from the playoffs. They fired coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, and traded for Davante Adams to hope spark some offense. But little has gone the Jets’ way.
With an eye on 2025, Rodgers is unclear if he has another season left in him. He said earlier this month he’s going to take some time after the season to decide what’s best for his future, but noted earlier in the year he’d like to play for Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich until the end of his career.
