Tech Goes Home, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, recently received a $30,000 grant from Comcast to expand digital skills programming in Holyoke and Springfield. The grant brings Comcast’s total 2024 commitment to supporting TGH’s digital inclusion efforts to $130,000.
TGH was chosen as one of three nonprofits to receive funding from Comcast’s Project Up initiative, which aims to advance digital equity through community partnerships. The award will help TGH expand its offerings in Holyoke and Springfield, where it will work with community partners — including schools, libraries, and nonprofits — to support a network of local instructors and provide learners with a laptop or tablet, no-cost internet access and 15 hours of digital skills training.

Bay Path University partners with Latino Economic Development Corp. to launch Latino Professional Leadership Institute. Bay Path President Sandra Doran and founder of the corporation, Andrew Melendez, formalized the partnership between the university and the Springfield-based nonprofit to launch the Latino Professional Leadership Institute at a signing ceremony that was held on Bay Path’s Longmeadow campus.
The institute will offer 10-week courses three times a year to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners from the Latino community, focusing on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, operational efficiency, marketing strategies and other business topics. These non-credit, bilingual courses will be taught by Bay Path instructors and will provide learners with an introduction to a college-level business curriculum.

Baystate Health awarded $26,000 in scholarship money to 24 local students pursuing health care careers at an event in Springfield.
The recipients have participated in the Baystate Springfield Educational Partnership and are attending college in the fall. They will be attending colleges such as UMass Amherst, Springfield College, and Boston College, and are interested in pursuing career paths including medicine, nursing, pharmacy and psychology.
BSEP’s mission is to cultivate a health care workforce in Springfield that mirrors the diversity of the community.
Funded by Baystate Health’s Community Benefits Program, these scholarships have awarded nearly $800,000 to BSEP students and alumni to date.
Baystate Health has hired over 500 BSEP alumni, with the majority working in clinical and administrative support, allied health, nursing, and graduate medical education roles. Of these 500, 287 alumni continue to be a part of the Baystate Health team.

The Springfield Thunderbirds and MGM Springfield announced a multi-year extension of their sponsorship agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, MGM Springfield will continue to serve as the T-Birds Presenting Sponsor for an additional five seasons. MGM Springfield has been the Thunderbirds’ Presenting Partner since the club’s inception in June 2016.
Beyond their advertising presence inside the MassMutual Center, MGM Springfield’s partnership includes the sponsorship of the T-Bird’s Friday Pregame Concert Series, Deuces Wild Friday concession specials, and the season-opening and season-ending block parties. In 2019, for the first time in Springfield AHL history, the city hosted a sold-out, two-day AHL All-Star Classic. This was largely due to the efforts of MGM Springfield, which hosted numerous events as Presenting Partner for the weekend’s activities.
