Popular Conn. pizza chain ‘with an iconic oven-kissed char’ expanding to Mass.

A popular Connecticut pizza chain that has been around for 85 years is expanding to Massachusetts later this year, according to the restaurant’s website.

Sally’s Apizza is planning on opening two locations in Eastern Massachusetts: one in Woburn and the other in Boston’s Seaport District, according to the website.

The Woburn location is expected to open in 2023 while the Seaport location will not debut until 2024, according to the website. An exact date for either location has yet to be announced.

Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio founded Sally’s Apizza in New Haven, Connecticut in 1938, according to the chain’s website. Sally’s is known for their “distinctive tomato sauce and chewy, crispy crust with an iconic oven-kissed char,” the website continued.

Sally’s already has three Connecticut spots in New Haven, Fairfield and Stamford. The restaurant also plans on opening new locations in Wethersfield, Norwalk and Newington.
