Police are searching for two men who robbed a couple at knifepoint in their Stoneham apartment early Thursday morning.
At around 5:30 a.m., Stoneham police arrived at an apartment complex on Fallon Road after a reported home invasion, the police department said in a statement.
Officers spoke with a man and a woman who said two masked men entered their unlocked apartment while they were sleeping, the statement read. The two men forcibly entered the bedroom and demanded money.
One of the suspects took out a folding knife, punched the man and threatened to stab him if he was not quiet, police said.
The two men then ransacked the apartment and took an undisclosed amount of cash, along with other valuable objects, police added.
One of the men wore a green and black North Face jacket and black sweatpants, while the other had blue eyes and wore all-black clothing.
This was not a random act of violence, police said. The area will have an increased police presence, though there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood at this time.
Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call Stoneham Police Detective Sgt. Christopher Dalis at 781-438-1215 ext. 3133.
The investigation remains ongoing.
