WESTFIELD – At the School Committee meeting on Nov. 20, Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski presented his three main goals for the school year, with some pushback from the committee to include data for the first goal on student learning, which emphasizes improving student achievement on district assessments and increased student attendance rates.
Czaporowski said on assessments, school instructional leadership teams meet regularly to discuss data, with central office team members at each meeting.
On attendance, Czaporowski said state administrations are calling out for high school redesign, as they are starting to see attendance dip at the high school levels across the state. He said on a recent visit, Acting Commissioner Russell Johnston said Westfield is leading the pack in high school redesign with its emphasis on career development and early college opportunities.
