Hundreds of people go to Mass. ERs every year for carbon monoxide poisoning

The winter season is soon approaching, and with it, the annual PSAs about the dangers of an “invisible killer” — a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas most often generated by malfunctioning or blocked heating systems.

Warnings about carbon monoxide may carry more weight this winter in Massachusetts after three family members were found dead in a Nahant home in January. Elevated levels of the potentially lethal gas were detected in the house.
