LONGMEADOW — #Goatgate consumed a Longmeadow Facebook forum this week, leading to hundreds of residents hissing at each other over a meandering cat named Goat, who visited a neighbor’s home too many times for comfort.
The 8-year-old cat began entering resident Bryan Picard’s home on Meadowbrook Road weeks ago, Picard said. Picard’s family has two cats, and the much larger Goat began attacking them and urinating on the carpets. Goat entered through a cat door that the Picards have for their own pets.
Because Goat had no collar or tracking chip, Picard took to Facebook to try to identify the feline and found it belonged to residents on Westmoreland Avenue — a few streets away. The nearby family, Katie and Dan Sullivan, identified Goat as theirs.
