It is safe to say that Massachusetts residents have it pretty good – that is according to recent study naming the safest communities in the country.
According to a recent study by Visual Capitalist, 26 communities in Massachusetts rank among the top 100 safest municipalities in the United States.
Franklin, located in Norfolk County, was the highest rated place at number 2. The municipality was given a total crime rate of 2.9 and a has a 1 in 344 chance of being a victim of a crime.
Other communities to crack the top 10 were Marshfield (4), Arlington (5) and Lexington (8).
A majority of the cities were also located in the Greater Boston Area. The rest of the Massachusetts municipalities to appear on the list were as follows:

The list was generated using FBI data and Census Bureau populations collected by NeighborhoodScout in 2023. In addition, 40% of the cities on the list are located in the Northeast.
