A Department of Youth Services corrections officers became trapped in his truck on Friday after a group of people began jumping on it and banging on the windows, according to the Boston Police Department.
The corrections officer was leaving work when he was blocked by multiple vehicles. One of the cars side swiped his truck and tried to drive away, according to police. Then the group of people began to surround his truck and bash on the windows.
By the time additional officers arrived to help, Canterbury Street had about 100 vehicles blocking it. Officers had to run down the street to help the officers.
The group dispersed as the other officers arrived and the corrections officer was not injured, police said.
Boston police officers saw one of the people who they believed was involved in the incident get into a car that didn’t have a front license plate. When officers asked for his license and registration, he drove away, almost hitting the officers, police said.
But due to heavy traffic, officers were able to continue to follow the car on foot. The person continued to refuse to get out of the car and reached “towards a bag near the center console.”
“Officers drew their department issued firearms and ordered the suspect and passengers to not move,” a press release from the police department states.
All those in the car were then removed and handcuffed. Police said they found a gun, three different license plates and three different key fobs.
Another car had been backed into bushes. When officers asked for their identification, they provided fake names.
Officers removed all the people from the car and found another gun. They also discovered the car was stolen and that it had two stolen license plates.
Alan Ridenour, 19, of Marlboro, Mario Florian, 19, of Ashland, and Geraldo Colon, 21, of Framingham were arrested and face charges after the incident.
All three people are expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
