After a record-setting Friday that saw Boston reach 79 degrees, National Weather Service forecasters say more warmth is on the way for Massachusetts during the first week of November.
The warm-up begins on Election Day Tuesday with breezy winds and projected high temperatures in the 70s. Then, on Wednesday, high temperatures are forecasted “near or above” record highs in the mid to high 70s, forecasters wrote.
In Boston, forecasters project a high of 76 on Wednesday. To the west, Worcester is expected to reach up to 75 degrees while Springfield is projected to reach 78 degrees.
The warm stretch comes as the state continues to grapple with a number of brush fires, which consumed more than 1,100 acres in October. More than 200 fires were reported last month. The average number in October is 15, according to the Department of Fire Services.
The weather service has issued a Special Weather Statement blanketing the entire state, warning of elevated fire concerns.
“The prolonged period of dry weather coupled with a very dry ground will continue to result in elevated fire weather concerns Monday,” forecasters wrote.
