Josh Hart jokes Celtics need to be drug tested after historic night

BOSTON — The Celtics just kept making 3-pointers, and even though the Knicks scored decently well, they couldn‘t keep pace with the defending champs. All in all, it was a blowout victory for the C‘s as they improved to 1-0 while they also made some history in the process.

The 3-point shooting, specifically, was what carried the Celtics throughout their ring night. They finished 29-for-61 from deep to tie an NBA record for most made 3s in a game. Knicks forward Josh Hart had some joking words when it came to the Celtics’ shooting.

“NBA needs to drug test all of them, I‘ll you that,” Hart told reporters. “I ain‘t never seen nothing like that before, man. You gotta give them credit. They‘re already an explosive team. Obviously, there was an energy in the arena today. It was contagious. They played extremely well. We‘ll look at it; we’ll learn from it.”

Amusingly enough, the Celtics actually missed out on making history. They missed their final 13 3-point looks on the night as the Garden crowd was hoping to see them smash the record. But it wasn’t meant to be even though the reserves finishing the game got plenty of solid looks at history.

Regardless, the Celtics made a statement by blowing out their East rivals in the Knicks. New York retooled this offseason so it can take a step toward competitiveness. But instead, the Celtics showed why they’re the defending champions. So as Hart said, the Knicks will look to regroup from here ahead of a long regular season.
