Late Springfield Superior Court judge recalled for his talent, fairness

SPRINGFIELD — A judge known for his caring and fairness died Sunday, leaving friends, family members and the law community in mourning.

Francis E. Flannery, who was sworn in as a Hampden County Superior Court judge in 2018, started his career as an assistant district attorney in the Hampden and Northwestern district attorneys’ offices. He later went on to work as a defense lawyer before he applied to be a judge.
