Celtics hanging Banner No. 18: Everything you need to know for ring night

The Celtics are already looking forward to the regular season if training camp and preseason have been any indication. But before they fully close the book on the 2023-24 season, they still have a couple more items to take care of — namely, celebrating their 2024 NBA title.

That all comes in the Celtics’ regular-season opener against the Knicks, set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at TD Garden. Not only will the Celtics get their championship rings, but they’ll also raise Banner No. 18 into the rafters. Ring night is a huge honor as the NBA world will have its eyes on Boston to open the 2024-25 campaign.

For those who will be in attendance at the Garden, it‘s recommended to be at your seats by 6:45 p.m. for the ring ceremony. The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. ahead of the 7:30 p.m. game start. For those watching from home, TNT will broadcast the ring ceremony. NBA commissioner Adam Silver and C’s legends will be in attendance Tuesday, as well.

“The pride and passion Celtics fans exemplify provides us a truly unique advantage every time we play in TD Garden,” Celtics team president Rich Gotham said in a release. “We look forward to celebrating and sharing with them our record 18th championship the night of Oct 22 as we begin the quest to raise our next banner.”

For those in the downtown area, TNT will host an event for fans called the NBA on TNT American Express Road Show. The free event opens its doors at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall Plaza. Shaboozey will have a pregame performance while Benson Boone will have some postgame festivities. The event will be anchored by the NBA on TNT crew of Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal.

While the Celtics are focused on the season, they‘ll get one more chance to relive what was a great summer for those in the organization. From there, they’ll be onto their title-defense season.

“I‘m just excited,” Al Horford said. “It‘s obviously a lot of emotions. First time that we‘re going through this. But I think it‘s just trying to really enjoy the moment. Just focus in on the next thing that we have to do. I feel like I’m just trying to take things a step at a time.”
