Some Things I Think I Think: On a diminished product in baseball’s postseason

* Some baseball fans believe the postseason is now too crowded, with 12 teams qualifying for the playoffs. But maybe the real problem is that it’s too long.

It’s the middle of the League Championship Series, and it would seem all four teams have pitching staffs that are gassed. Relievers are pitching more innings than starters and many pitchers have little left after demands of the long 162-game regular season, then the wild-card round, then the Division Series.
