It’s safe to say that the postseason struggles of Mookie Betts are officially a thing of the past.
Betts, the former Red Sox outfielder and AL MVP, carried an 0-for-22 hitless streak earlier this postseason, dating back to 2022. But of late, he’s broken out at the plate and on Thursday night, may have had his best playoff performance ever.
Betts had four hits — two singles, a double and a homer — and knocked in four runs in a 10-2 romp by the Los Angeles Dodgers over the New York Mets. The Dodgers now lead the best of seven series three games to one and can win the National League pennant with a victory in Game 5 Friday afternoon.

Betts singled and scored in the third, ripped a two-run double in the fourth, connected for a two-run homer in the sixth and added a single in the eighth. It was the second four-hit postseason game of his career, having also banged out four hits in Game 5 of the 2021 NLDS against the San Francisco Giants. Betts is one of 18 players with two four-hit games in the postseason.
Betts, dealt from the Red Sox to the Dodgers in February of 2020, had begun to change the narrative about his postseason play in the Division Series earlier this month, hitting home runs in both Game 3 and 4 as the Dodgers survived the San Diego Padres.
