Mitchell, who played college hockey for Jim Montgomery at the University of Denver, has been a depth for the Bruins since signing before last season, but he’s been passed by Parker Wotherspoon as Boston’s No. 7 blueliner.

He played 13 games for Boston last year with two assists, but spent most of the year (42 games) in Providence.

He signed a one-year extension this summer.

He was injured during training camp. He traveled with the varsity to Florida, but wasn’t active.
